Organic Diapers - How To Choose The Most Appropriate Diaper For Your Baby
Many people who follow an organic lifestyle decide to carry on their green choices when having a child. A pregnant woman can find it is just a matter of making wholesome choices when it comes to her health and wellbeing, and this has a knock-on effect to her unborn baby. Eco-friendly expectant parents, as all parents, do a lot of research prior to the birth of their child to ensure that the choices they make are ultimately the best choices for their baby. Things like food and clothing can be relatively simple to determine, but what about the more personal aspects of child healthcare, such as diapers? Non-organic parents can easily just pluck a pack of diapers off the shelf at their local store, or use cloth diapers and boil wash them after use to make them sterile to use repeatedly. An organic parent will have to research organic diapers, whether they are cloth or disposable.
When using cloth diapers there are a variety of things a parent has to think about. Regular cotton cloth diapers will contain chemicals that are totally unsuitable for an organic baby. They also need washing at extremely high temperatures in order to disinfect them, which when coupled with detergents used, could possibly add to long-term eco problems. Organic baby diapers on the other hand are made from organic fibers and materials. No pesticides will have been used when growing the crops and no chemicals used when manufacturing the diapers. Organic diapers made from cloth can be used again and again with the potential of saving parents literally thousands of dollars over time when compared to disposable diapers.
Some parents prefer to stick with seemingly more modern trends and would rather use disposable diapers. In the past there have been major concerns over the amount of landfill space used for the disposal of these diapers and this brought about some serious changes in the manufacture and disposal of them. It is now possible to purchase completely organic diapers of the disposable kind without the worries of the past. While some eco-friendly parents still frown upon this, for others it has proven to be the best choice as far as their baby and lifestyle goes.
There are some disposable organic diapers made without the use of gels and unnecessary chemicals. Instead it is possible to find some that are made with a cotton-blend using wood pulp that is chlorine-free and certified bleached wood which is non-chlorine bleached. The wood is obtained from renewable and sustainable sources, so these diapers are good for the environment as well as the baby. Whether a parent chooses to use cloth or disposable diapers, there is an eco-friendly one that will suit.
